But a brand creates value only if it drives everything you do – that is, if business opportunities are viewed through the lens of your brand, brand understanding is interwoven into business decision-making, and brands are expressed and delivered.
I am a “brand as business” expert – I uncover brand opportunities for growth, translate those insights into actionable plans, and then develop tools to facilitate brand execution. I integrate analysis and creativity, apply strategy to operations, translate vision into reality.
- Research firms are methodological experts – they develop sound research methodologies and produce robust research results, but they aren’t responsible for integrating their findings into your business decision-making and operations.
- Management consultants are process experts – they develop robust operating systems and processes, but they often overlook the unique values and attributes that define and differentiate your business.
- Brand planners are insights experts – they identify brand opportunities, but they don’t have the patience nor the business experience to figure out how those insights should be executed upon nor to see them through.
- Brand design firms are creative experts – they create impactful expressions of your brand, but their work usually lacks robust research or strategic underpinnings and they fall short of actual delivery of brand value.
Great research, processes, insights, and creativity are all important – and I draw upon each of them in my work – but only when these disciplines are combined into an approach that makes your brand your business is value created across the board.
